The Essential English Centre offers a range of facilities which includes spacious classrooms, a student room and a computer and study area – the perfect setting in which to learn and achieve. What’s more, the school is set within a building of special architectural and historic interest on the prestigious Portland Street in the heart of Manchester city centre.
We are a small school, with approximately 30 – 60 students studying for most of the year and approximately 100 students in the summer.
At our school, you will benefit from:
All of our classrooms are bright and spacious and provide the perfect environment for learning. Students benefit from comfortable seating and large table desks which provide comfort and space for students during lessons. Throughout the year we use 4- 6 classrooms and during summer we use 8-10 classrooms.
This is an area where you can eat, socialise, chat together and play games. The student room offers a comfortable area to relax during lesson breaks and before and after your lesson. Here you will also find information about the weekly social programme.
Take advantage of the free Wi-Fi, use the internet in the student study area or roam freely on your mobile or tablet throughout the school.
Here you can buy hot drinks such as tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and relax at café-style tables or in our student area.
At our student reception you can get help and support with accommodation, travel and the general day to day challenges you may face when moving to a new city. We are here to support you on your journey and are more than happy to help you.
Computer and Study Area
Students can benefit from a designated study room, which is a quiet zone reserved for student study, homework and research. Use our study tables or one of our computers to develop your skills even further outside of class. Here you will also find useful information on English learning websites, apps and study tips.
We have a designated room ( and prayer mats) available to students during school hours.
If you wish to eat breakfast or lunch in school, students benefit from their own student kitchen, with a microwave, fridge and all normal kitchen utensils.
