The Essential English Centre – Manchester’s only Quality English and IALC Member School!
Alongside our British Council accreditation, The Essential English Centre is proud to be Manchester’s only school to have both Quality English and IALC membership in 2026.
Quality English
The Essential English Centre is the first and only Quality English school in Manchester. Owners Bairbre and Jo founded the school in 2012, with the vision of offering a high quality, yet personalised and boutique-style experience for all of its students and partners. We have been members of Quality English since 2015, and we are proud to be part of such a prestigious group of schools all around the world.
IALC
In 2026, The Essential English Centre was honoured to become a member of IALC, a group of elite independent schools around the world, each of them offering the highest standards of service in all areas of the student experience. IALC expects an excellent academic experience, a passion for each of our student’s overall journey, and an environment that offers a happy and warm place to study. We are proud to be recognised as a school that delivers this to our students each and every day.
Quality Assurance Inspections
With rigorous and regular inspections from the British Council, Quality English and IALC, partners and students can be assured of the highest standards across our teaching and learning, accommodation, welfare and safeguarding. Our professional and friendly team is dedicated to ensuring our students get the most out of their journey with us here in Manchester.
Our most recent Quality English report stated:

Satisfied students comment on the whole experience (the staff are so helpful, there’s a nice atmosphere) and agents agree as they praise the school’s quality of education, the competence of the teachers and the students’ overall experience. Its location in the centre of vibrant Manchester, the ‘Capital of the North’, is a bonus.
