From April 6th 2015, for visa applications in which the applicant should prove a minimum level of English, Trinity College London and IELTS will be recognised as the two official and approved providers of Secure English Language Testing (SELT). The IELTS exam can be taken at centres across the world, while those taking the Trinity College London exam can do so at one of ten centres throughout the UK, one of which is in Manchester.
Exams that were approved before April 6th 2015, including the Pearson Test of English Academic and City and Guilds IESOL, ESOL and ISESOL, will continue to be accepted until November 2015.
The most local IELTS test centre to The Essential English Centre is at the University of Manchester, just ten minutes walk from the school, with tests being run on a very regular basis.
*Please note that the above information is not relevant to those wishing to apply for a Student Visitor Visa or Extended Student Visitor Visa, as a minimum level of English is not required.
