Cambridge Exam Courses

Cambridge Exam Courses

We offer preparation courses in the Advanced (CAE) and First Certificate (FCE) Cambridge English exam preparation. Having a recognised Cambridge qualification in English can greatly assist both your career and personal development, and our carefully selected, experienced teachers will help you to prepare in the key areas of your chosen examination. With continual assessment throughout your course, and with verbal and written feedback from your teacher, you will also have the opportunity to practise exam techniques using authentic examination material.

You will study for your Cambridge exam at our school in Manchester and if you choose to take the Cambridge exam while you are here, we can assist with booking your exam. The Cambridge testing centre is 10 minutes’ walk from our school.

It takes about 180 – 200 learning hours with a teacher to move from one level of English to the next level.  So, a student who has recently completed the B2 First (Cambridge English: First) exam, will need about 180 hours to be ready for the C1 Advanced (Cambridge English: Advanced) exam.  It is important to remember that this is a general guide, and that your level of progress will depend on many factors, for example your language learning background, the amount of time you can practise English outside class, completed homework etc. You may require more or less time and support depending on your own needs.

Cambridge: First Certificate (FCE)>

During the full-time Cambridge preparation course you will study on the General English 15 hour programme in the morning and join a 2 hour Cambridge specific exam module in the afternoon.  Combining the two courses means you can improve in the areas of reading, writing, listening and grammar with a lot of time for speaking and pronunciation practice in the mornings and continue to study in the afternoons, focusing on specific Cambridge exam content and techniques.

The specific exam preparation will include skills development in the different task types in the four areas of the exam. You will also focus on topics, vocabulary, grammar and real-time exam practice.
